RPGs have been around in some form or another since the dawn of video games, and have never really gone out of style. From Final Fantasy to World of Warcraft , games that let you create your own story and character are always fun, as well as immensely satisfying when you finally save the world from imminent destruction (or whatever). Here’s our list of the top 10 RPGs you should be playing right now – make sure to check them out!
1) Slayin
Slayin isn't your typical RPG, but it's one of the most addicting and fun games you'll ever play. With simple 8-bit graphics and a retro soundtrack, Slayin will keep you coming back for more. The game is also unique in that it has no text or dialogue at all; everything is communicated with an onscreen avatar who speaks in popular internet memes like I don't know her or It me. In the game, players must jump over enemies to avoid damage while defeating them with swords and spells to rack up points. While not as deep as other titles on this list, Slayin is perfect for gamers looking for a new way to slay monsters (or make some time pass) while on their commute or waiting at the airport.
2) Darkest Dungeon
If you're looking for a challenge, and a dark and foreboding atmosphere, then look no further than Darkest Dungeon. This game will push you to your limits, as you try to survive the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. But persevere, and you'll be rewarded with one of the most satisfying gaming experiences around. A party can have up to six members - each of which has their own set of stats that affect how they perform in battle - and once those members are gone, they're gone forever. The stakes couldn't be higher, so good luck!
3) Path of Exile
Path of Exile is a free-to-play online action RPG set in the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. It's a perfect game for those who are looking for something challenging and engaging, with plenty of rewards to be had. Plus, the community is great and there's always something new to discover. If you're looking for an immersive and rewarding RPG experience, Path of Exile is definitely worth checking out. And if that doesn't do it for you, what about the combat? With some MMO-inspired gameplay elements and heaps of customisation options available at your fingertips, this should tick all your boxes. And if that still doesn't sound like your cup of tea, don't worry! We have nine more games waiting just below.
4) Slay the Spire
Slay the Spire is a unique blend of card game and roguelike that has enthralled players since its release in 2017. Each run is different, as you choose a character and make your way through randomly generated levels, fighting enemies and collecting cards along the way. With dozens of hours of gameplay, Slay the Spire is a must-play for any fan of RPGs or card games. It's currently available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
5) Monster Hunter World
If you're looking for an amazing RPG to play right now, look no further than Monster Hunter World. Not only is it one of the best-selling RPGs of all time, but it's also one of the most acclaimed, with a Metacritic score of 90. In Monster Hunter World, you play as a hunter, tasked with taking down giant monsters in a variety of lush and varied environments. As your hunt progresses, you'll have to keep track of their various body parts, breaking them off and storing them in your bag until they can be turned into armor or weapons at a crafting station. One other thing that sets this game apart from others on this list is its fantastic co-op multiplayer experience; join up with three friends online to take on missions that are too difficult for just one player!
6) Divinity Original Sin II
Divinity Original Sin II is one of the top RPGs you can play right now. It features an incredibly deep and complex story, amazing tactical combat, and plenty of side quests and secrets to discover. The world is also fantastically realized, with a ton of different areas to explore and a ton of different ways to approach any given situation. If you're looking for an RPG that will keep you busy for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours, then Divinity Original Sin II is the game for you. There's never been a better time to be an RPG fan - especially if you're into this genre!
7) Dead Cells
1. Dead Cells is a Roguelike Metroidvania video game developed and published by Motion Twin.
2. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in August 2018.
3. Dead Cells is a 2D action-platformer with rogue-like elements set in a procedural castle full of deadly creatures and treacherous traps.
4. Players control a nameless protagonist who must fight their way through the castle to escape. Along the way they will find new weapons, armor, spells and other items that can be used as they explore deeper into ever more dangerous areas of the fortress.

6. From its satisfying combat and responsive controls to its great visual style, Dead Cells is well worth your time if you're looking for an intense challenge that doesn't take itself too seriously!
8) Final Fantasy XIV Online (FFXIV): Shadowbringers
If you're looking for an amazing RPG experience that you can enjoy online with friends, look no further than Final Fantasy XIV Online. The latest expansion, Shadowbringers, has taken the game to new heights, with a captivating story, incredible graphics, and gameplay that is constantly evolving. If you're not already playing FFXIV, now is the time to start! With so many quality updates in recent years, it's never been a better time to dive into this expansive MMO.
9) Undertale
Undertale is a brilliant indie RPG that took the gaming world by storm when it released in 2015. In Undertale, you play as a human who falls into the Underground, a world inhabited by monsters. The monsters have been exiled to the Underground because they were too violent for the surface world. The game is told through the perspective of the monsters, and you must help them return to the surface. Undertale is an incredibly heartwarming and funny game that will stay with you long after you finish it. It's also full of challenging puzzles and battles, so even though it's not the longest game on this list, there's still plenty to do. Plus, once you've finished playing through the game once, there are several different endings depending on your choices throughout the story.
10) Valkyria Chronicles 4
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the latest entry in the Valkyria Chronicles series, and it's a must-play for fans of the genre. The game features an engaging story, beautiful visuals, and addictive gameplay that will keep you hooked for hours on end. If you're looking for a new RPG to sink your teeth into, Valkyria Chronicles 4 should be at the top of your list. It offers a gripping narrative, enthralling battle system, and an excellent soundtrack that serves as the perfect backdrop to this fantastic adventure.
In addition to its compelling story and combat system, one of my favorite aspects of Valkyria Chronicles 4 is its memorable cast of characters. From Amleth Gronkjaer’s dreamy voice acting to each character’s distinct personality traits and quirks; these individuals quickly became some of my favorite protagonists I’ve ever had the pleasure of controlling throughout a JRPG experience.
When combined with its interesting premise, deep customization options for each character class, plus plenty other nuances – like commanding troops in tactical battles – this makes Valkyria Chronicles 4 one helluva game!
